Quick question
I heard a rumour that the reason the australian version of wipeout is being filmed overseas is because australian government or law will not allow a show like this to be filmed there.
Because of insurrance or because of personal risk
is there any truth to this?
Cheers.

In fact, just the opposite, Not only is the Australian edition filmed there, but also all the other countries aside of the US are going to be using the Australian course.

But is it true because of insurrance risk or something that that is the reason why its not being filmed in australia (the australian version that is)

My understanding from speaking to one of the producers of the Australian show is that the primary driver is money. Far cheaper to shoot the show overseas using the Argentine crew (when the course and crew shoot approx 20 other countries also) than to build a whole new set in Australia and to use much more expensive Australian labour for the filming.
Argentina also has a lot of experience in "high risk" tv shows and are regulations surrounding the requirements that have to be met. Endemol has apparently produced Fear Factor in Argentina for a number of years for these reasons.

Thanks for correcting me.
